Stanley NC Homes for Sale
Stanley is a small Gaston County town on NC-27, between Lincolnton and Mount Holly. Its 28164 ZIP code runs north into Lincoln County, all the way to the southwest corner of Lake Norman. That's why a Stanley address can mean an older home near downtown Stanley or a golf-course home near the lake.

Why buyers look at Stanley
The town of Stanley grew from 3,556 people in 2010 to 3,963 in 2020. NC-27 runs through town as Main Street, connecting Lincolnton to the northwest with Mount Holly and Charlotte to the southeast. Real estate sites put it at roughly 20 miles from Charlotte and 15 miles from Charlotte Douglas Airport.
Downtown has a historic Main Street with a train mural finished in 2011, local shops and restaurants, and events like Country Fest and a summer concert series. Harper Park, on Blacksnake Road, opened in 2013 with a splash pad, playground, walking track, nature trail, ball fields and courts. The Brevard Station Museum on South Main Street covers the town's railroad, textile, gold mining and military history.
Outdoor space got a boost in December 2025, when the N.C. Forest Service opened Mountain Island Educational State Forest in Stanley, with four trails, a picnic shelter and a forestry education center.
Know which Stanley you're buying in. Inside the town (Gaston County), homes go to Gaston County Schools. Many homes with a Stanley 28164 address are actually in unincorporated Lincoln County near NC-73 and Lake Norman, and those go to Lincoln County Schools. I'll check the county, tax rate and school assignment for any home you're looking at.

Stanley vs. Lincolnton: which is right for you?
- Pick Stanley if you want a shorter drive to Charlotte and the airport, or you want to be near the southwest end of Lake Norman.
- Pick Lincolnton if you want a county-seat downtown with more restaurants and shops, historic homes, or new construction from the $200s.
- Look at both if you're flexible. NC-27 connects them directly.
